The Sandhills Cattle Association was begun in 1938 by a group of Nebraska ranchers who saw the need to promote Sandhills cattle to the farmer-feeders in the Cornbelt region of the United States.
The founders developed a publication, the Annual Directory, in which its members could advertise their cattle. This directory was mailed to feeders throughout the country.
Over time, the Sandhills Cattle Association has become a clearinghouse of information making available not only the listings of cattle for sale by members of the Association, but also providing information about feed for sale, pasture for rent, ranch jobs, ranch employees.
The Sandhills Cattle Association hosts an annual convention, an annual ranch tour, a feedlot performance and carcass contest, sponsors a scholarship program and conducts other educational and marketing programs.
