The month of July seemed to arrive so quickly this year! July brings hot summer days and haying season to the Sandhills. The month of July also brings Independence Day and the celebration of our great nation and the freedom it holds!
As James G.Blaine said, “The United States is the only country with a known birthday.”
On July 4, 1776, when the continental congress approved the Declaration of Independence, it became the historic Independence Day, more commonly known as the 4th of July. Every year, Americans celebrate it with great patriotism.
Celebration of this historic day is a mix of festivities throughout the day of activities, parties, parades, barbecues, and vast displays of fireworks as we as Americans remember and celebrate our country and freedom.
Like all holiday celebrations, each of us has our favorite traditions that we make sure to include in the celebration activities of the day. One of my favorites and a must-have on the 4th is the barbecue grill fired up and filled with thick beef burgers, steaks, and beef hotdogs sizzling away on the grill. Then combine all that with the picnic fixings, food and drinks, enjoyed in the company of friends and family sharing fireworks displays and letting your patriotism, nationalism, and respect for this great country, The United States of America proudly show!
As Benjamin Franklin said, “Where liberty dwells, there is my country.” So let freedom ring every day in the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And don’t forget the beef, which in my opinion, should be considered as “American as apple pie and also a national treasure!”
