Attention All Sandhills Cattle Association Members

The Sandhills Cattle Association Board of Directors has discussed in some previous meetings about reducing the number of board members due to a lack of active board members in the Association. The current number of board members is 15, with a quorum of 8 board members. A quorum is the minimum number of members that must be present at any of the SCA meetings to make the meeting proceedings valid.

With the busyness of the agricultural lifestyle, it is tough to get everyone together for meetings and meet quorum for the decisions that we need to make. Therefore with this difficulty we have been having, we are submitting a motion to amend the SCA bylaws to reduce the number of board members from 15 down to 11 with a quorum of 6 board members. Below is the current bylaw & proposed bylaw.

Current By Law

"Article III… Board of Directors and Executive Committee • Section 1: The property, funds, and policies of the Association shall be controlled by a board of not less than fifteen (15) directors, all of whom must be producer members in good standing with the Association."

New Proposed By Law

"Article III… Board of Directors and Executive Committee • Section 1: The property, funds, and policies of the Association shall be controlled by a board of not less than eleven (11) directors, all of whom must be members in good standing with the Association."

With the requirement that the entire membership vote on any bylaw changes, we are providing you this notice that we will be voting on this bylaw amendment change at the 84th Annual Convention & Banquet on June 15, 2023, at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine, NE.

If you have any questions at all, please reach out to the Sandhills Cattle Office (402) 376-2310, President Darian Fuelberth (402) 925-8380, or Vice President Rick Marlatt (308) 360-0001. Thank you for your continued membership with the Sandhills Cattle Association and your support & patience through the changes we've had over the years.
