January 22, 2021 - Chewing the Cud

January is inauguration month, not only for the United States but also for the Sandhills Cattle Association. January 1st marked the first day of office for Ryan Adamson as he took the reins as president of the Sandhills Cattle Association! He has some pretty large shoes to fill as Matt Blackford steps into the Past President role.

I'd personally like to thank Matt for being such a tremendous help my first year here! I cannot tell you the number of hours he and I have logged on the phone working out specifics for a project or driving in a pickup to check on EP&C calves. Lucky for me, he was a kind and generous boss who embraced the fact that I am not a Sandhills girl but showed me the way things are done up here.

Next week, we will be heading over to Cottonwood Feeders to gather the second weights on the Educational, Performance, and Carcass Contest calves. They will also be reimplanted at that time. Darian Fuelberth, current Treasurer for the Board of Directors, says the calves are nicely gaining weight and really thriving. So I look forward to updating you all on that adventure in the next issue.

Bull Sale season is well underway, and I am sure that you all have noticed the Sandhills Cattle News has gotten a bit thicker! Be sure to support our Sandhills ranchers when looking for your next herd sire. And if you have a bull sale coming up, be sure to contact us on how we can help you market your bulls!

Speaking of which, be sure to send us the cattle you have for sale all year long! We are working on expanding our mailing list to even more potential buyers. This means more eyes on your calves and more potential to make a sale right from the comfort of your ranch. This equals less stress on your cattle and more jingle in your pockets!

We need your help, though. Please be sure to send in your cattle whenever they are for sale - whether you take them to the sale barn or are listing them private treaty at your ranch. Let us know! We not only list cattle for sale in our Feeder Cattle News, which goes out to all our members, but we also list them on our website and then take it a step further and list them on all our social media platforms. All of this advertising done for you for just the cost of your producer membership! I don't know about you, but I don't know another single company that will advertise your cattle all year long, several different campaigns, on several different platforms, for $150! This is truly a service that you need to take advantage of as a Producer Member! All you need to do is give us a call at (402) 376-2310 or email your cattle for sale to sca@sandhillscattle.com. You can also list them online on our website at www.SandhillsCattle.com.

If you aren't a current Producer member but think that sounds like a better marketing plan for you, give us a call, and we'll get you fixed up!
