Holy cow! We have only a few days until the 82nd Annual Convention will kick off in Valentine on September 20 & 21. We have ALOT of exciting new events planned, so I thought I'd take a minute to highlight them!
We've decided to throw a little spice into our usual events - literally. This year, we will be holding a Cookoff Contest as a fundraiser. Teams need to sign up as soon as possible! Teams are required to bring a meat smoker, a side dish, any spices or sauces that they may prefer and pay a small entry fee of $50.00. Our judging team at 5:00 pm will judge the meat, and then the public can decide whom they think is the best for the People's Choice! Please join us for this great social event, show us your fantastic BBQ skills, and win a champion belt buckle!
We'll be holding our Annual Golf Classic as well at Frederick Peak Golf Course in Valentine. This is a three-person scramble, and there will be a shotgun start at 10 am. Registration is $125 per golfer, including 20 holes of golf, cart rental, lunch, and supper. Teams are limited, so if you haven't signed up - do so NOW!
Join us at 6 pm on Monday, September 20, for a fun-filled evening sipping fine beverages from local breweries and wineries. Bolo Beer and Niobrara Valley Vineyard have agreed to showcase their best products while enjoying music from MillarTime Productions. We'll have some outdoor recreational games so you can enjoy your evening! Join us for this fun-filled social event!

Husker Meats LLC has purchased the Grand Champion Market Heifer from the Cherry County Fair, and she will be making her appearance at the Convention! Jim Pinney plans to have her dolled up in her best makeup to demonstrate where specific cuts of meat come from on a live animal. This demo should be entertaining and informative, so be sure to stop in and see her and Jim at their booth during Convention!
